Answers to FAQ
About DownloadAV.com
1-1 Is DownloadAV.com for me? What do you offer? [ TOP ]
DownloadAV.com offers a wide selection of high-quality Japanese AV movies. We sell downloadable, full-length AV movies by real AV actresses ripped directly from the original DVD/VCD (absolutely no cuts/ads/etc.), unlike some other sites which sell ungrouped, low-quality, or corrupted movies. Purchasing with us ensures that you get only the highest-quality movies on the net. Also, we have direct OC192 connectivity - superfast connection means super fast downloading!
1-2 Why should I join your site while I can buy VCDs/DVDs somewhere else on the net? [ TOP ]
Simple: No shipping, no waiting! Download our movies and play them instantly! It can't be any easier! Never buy VCDs again as our movies' video quality is comparable to that of VCDs!
1-3 What Membership Plan do you offer? Is it all-you-can-download? [ TOP ]
Our UNLIMITED PLAN gives you UNLIMITED download quota, that means ALL-YOU-CAN-DOWNLOAD, any time!
1-4 What formats do the movies come in? [ TOP ]
We deliver our movies in WMV format (Windows Media Video). This format ensures our movies to be delievered with little or no loss quality, while maintaining small file sizes. Unlike RealPlayer or other 3rd-party players which require special plug-in/software, as long as you are using Microsoft Windows, you'll be able to play our movies without a problem since the movie player "Windows Media Player" is included in all versions of Windows. MAC users no worries, there's a Windows Media Player designed for MAC OS 8.1 and up, click here to check it out.
1-5 Which version of Windows Media Player is the best for viewing your movies? [ TOP ]
Although Windows Media Player is shipped with all versions of Windows, we HIGHLY recommend our members to download the latest Windows Media Player version 9 to get the most out of our movies (It's free, click here to download). It offers higher video quality than previous versions, and its fast-forward/rewind speed is way faster than that in the previous versions (Delays occur when fast-forwarding/rewinding with Windows Media Player version 8 and below.)
1-6 Do you add titles on a regular basis? [ TOP ]
Yes. Although we only add movies that we believe to be of a superior quality, we update as frequently as possible, usually several times a month.
Rights and Usage
2-1 Are there any restrictions on my use of the DownloadAV.com movies that I downloaded? [ TOP ]

2-2 Do I have exclusive ownership over the movies I download as part of the my membership? [ TOP ]

Product Delivery and Access
3-1 How are the movie files accessed after a purchase? [ TOP ]
After your payment has been verified by our payment processor, you will instantly receive a user ID and a password, which you can use to access our movies. You will also need this ID/password pair when you purchase download credits from us. [Learn More]
3-2 I clicked on download but nothing happens. I see only a popup with some text. [ TOP ]
Please click on the text. Normally, the download should start automatically, and the browser (Internet Explorer) should automatically open the Windows Media Player for you. If the download did not start automatically, just right click on the text, and choose "Save Target As" to save the file to your computer.
3-3 I'm using a download manager and it asks for a password. [ TOP ]
Just enter the ID/password pair for your DownloadAV.com account and everything should be fine.
3-4 I am still asked for a password while downloading files, even if I've entered it correctly. [ TOP ]
Some firewall programs block the information that download managers send in order to make the download possible (this information is called "referer" and is basically the URL of the page from where you are starting the download). Zone Alarm firewall is known to block the referer but other similar products may behave in the same way. The solution is to change, if possible, the settings of the firewall program in order to allow the passing of the referer to the download server. It that is not possible, temporarily disabling the firewall will do the job.
3-5 The download stops before it is complete. Why? [ TOP ]
Usually this is because the connection between the server and your computer has been lost. This is caused by a network congestion. You should try again at non-peak hours, or use a download manager to avoid redownloading the whole file. Here is a list of download managers you can choose from.
3-6 I downloaded the file. What should I do with it? [ TOP ]
In normal circumstances, double-clicking the file will open the Windows Media Player and the movie should play automatically. If this doesn't work, browse for the Windows Media Player program from Window's Start menu (Start > Program Files > Accessories > Entertainment). After you've opened the player, open the movie file that you've downloaded from there.
About Playing Movies
4-1 What is Windows Media Player? [ TOP ]
Windows Media Player is a multi-format media viewing system. It also supports our high-quality format movies. Refer to section 1-4 about getting the player for free.
4-2 After opening the movie file using Windows Media Player, I cannot use the scroll button on the timeline to goto a certain time in the movie. Why would that happen? [ TOP ]
This happens when the file download process fails before completion. In another words, the file has not yet been 100% fully downloaded. In this case you must download the file again. If this does not solve the problem, send us a message using the support form on the main page. If possible, please include the problematic file's filename and its file size(in bytes).
4-3 Every time I go to play the video, I get a GPF error. [ TOP ]
This kind of error usually pops up due to a software conflict or improper install of system level software...try the latest update for Windows and Internet Explorer.
4-4 I'm getting the error, Windows Media Player Error- unable to download appropriate decompressor (ERROR=R80040200) [ TOP ]
You might have an older version of the Windows Media Player. 1) Go to your Start Menu, go to Program-Accessories-Entertainment-Windows Media Player; 2) From the menu bar at top of the player select Help/Check for Player Upgrade, or refer to section 1-4 about getting the newest player for free.
4-5 I'm getting an application error with my Window Media Player that says: ¡§0X3553BDC1¡¨ REFERENCED MEMORY AT ¡§0X00000000¡¨ THE MEMORY COULD NOT BE READ¡¨ [ TOP ]
The problem probably has to do with your video drivers. Try changing the number of screen colors from 16777216 to 65536.
4-6 When I try to watch a video it is choppy or the frame rate is much slower than the audio rate. [ TOP ]
If you have tried increasing your buffer size and made sure you have the proper bandwidth selected, then most likely this is caused by you having either outdated hardware (a Pentium or lower), an outdated operating system (Win 3.1), an outdated browser (Netscape 3, ie3), or not enough memory, video ram, etc. The Windows media codecs are optimized for Pentium III, and run fine on Pentium II, but on a Pentium or lower they choke completely. Also you need a decent amount of system resources, RAM, VRAM etc to get good results.
4-7 My internet security settings do not allow the new decompressor to be installed. [ TOP ]
This is caused by Windows Media player trying to automatically install a newer version of the codec needed to play the video. Before you click to watch the video, set your browser's security in the preferences (or internet options) to low. Then click to watch the video and you should not get this error. After you have watched the video, you can set your browser security back to medium or high and watch all the videos you want since Windows Media player will have properly installed the newer version of the codec.
4-8 In Windows Media Player, I clicked on a video and it asked if I wanted to download and install a new codec. What should I do? Or I installed a new codec and now I'm having problems watching or hearing the videos. [ TOP ]
If you try to play a video, and your computer asks you if you want to install a new codec, first check your security settings before selecting yes: In Internet Explorer, in either the "View" or the "Tools" menu, find the "Internet Options" dialog box and open it. Click on the "Security" tab in this window. Make sure that your security setting for the Internet Zone is set to "Low" before installing the new codecs. If you select yes to add a new codec, you MUST restart your system for the new codec to function properly. If you installed a new codec, but did not follow these instructions, you may now be having problems. If you are having problems after installing a new codec, please go to: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/en/default.asp. Simply download the software and install it. Once installation is complete, restart your system. You should then be able to see and hear all the music videos properly.
